  1. How long should I microwave my Steamfresh bag for?

Depending on the Steamfresh variety and the wattage of your microwave, cook times may vary.  See the Microwave Oven Wattage Quick Test to find out you oven's wattage. You can find these cooking instructions by going to each product page.
  2. Can I microwave more than one Steamfresh package at a time?

For best quality and food safety, we do not recommend cooking more than one package at a time. For Steamfresh Singles, you may cook two bags at one time by following the directions on the package.
  3. Should my Steamfresh bag puff up while microwaving?

Yes! During cooking, the bag will slowly inflate as pressure safely builds. The steam is released by the special vent.
  4. Should my Steamfresh bag hiss/whistle while microwaving?

It is not uncommon to hear whistling or hissing during cooking as the bag puffs up.
  5. Should I defrost Steamfresh prior to microwaving?

For the highest quality and food safety, please keep Steamfresh frozen until you are ready to use it.
  6. I have a metal rack in my microwave, should I remove it before using?

Yes, you should remove any racks so that the bag has room to expand while it cooks. Place the bag directly on the microwave turntable, or on the microwave oven floor.
  7. Sometimes my package leaks a bit out of the vent while cooking. Is this normal?

Yes, the bag is specially designed to keep steam levels safe within the bag. Leaks may occur as a result of this.
  8. I let my Steamfresh bag thaw; can I refreeze it?

Do not refreeze fully thawed frozen foods. Fully thawed frozen foods should be immediately cooked and consumed OR refrigerated at 41°F or lower for no more than 72 hours before enjoying. Foods thawed for more than 4 hours without refrigeration or warming up to 70°F should be discarded.
  9. Should I pierce the Steamfresh bag prior to microwaving?
